There is a joy to be had in learning the ways of wildlife, living systems, and the ebb and flow of the natural world. My photography is an effort to share these discoveries, sometimes directly, as I saw them, and sometimes with interpretation, to better communicate and enhance the mood the scene elicited.
I am a Boston based photographer, whose profession has been as a clinical neuropsychologist. Understanding how we each interpret our worlds, and how we communicate have all been part of my work. Photography has brought these interests into another domain.
I have studied at Maine Media Workshops, the Griffin Museum of Photography’s Atelier, and with Ron Rosenstock, Alison Shaw, Kathy Adams Clark and John Paul Caponigro, among others. I have been in a juried members’ show at the Griffin Mueum in Winchester, MA, four juried shows at New Marlborough Meeting House Gallery, and a group show at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. I have had a solo show at the Newton Free Library entitled “Ammonites: Signs of Life,” and have had two images awarded “Top 100” in the 2019 North American Nature Photography Association Annual Showcase. Before becoming a neuropsychologist, I worked as a writer and photographer for Science World Magazine, a Scholastic publication.
